Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: Road House Blues from OPI Touring America with swatches!!

My fav polish of the week is Road House Blues from the OPI Touring America Collection. It is the only full size polish I have bought from this collection so far :/ I also caved and bought the mini set for myself after buying it for a friend, when I get a chance to post it (prolly tomorrow), I will put the link to where I talk about and swatch it HERE.

It's the perfect polish for me this week, because the name Road House Blues is kinda appropriate? I am heading out on the road to the East coast, not the East coast of America, actually Canada - but still! I am going to wear this polish on my nails all the way there :)

I love this color. It is perfect for fall. Such a nice, creamy dark blue. It is so dark it almost appears to be black in the right light. It looks really great under a topcoat of glitter too! Perfect for an upcoming NOTD ! :)

What are you wearing on your nails this week?

Indoors: Road House Blues

Do you like this polish as much as I do??

Have a fantastic week!!!

Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: Boom Boom Pow from deborah lippmann

This weeks favorite is Boom Boom Pow from Deborah Lippmann. It is a gorgeous gold glitter that is so perfect for summer evenings, it really catches the light from indoor lighting and candlelight. I also noticed when I read at night the glitter reflects on my book, like a disco ball - sooo neat :)

Boom Boom Pow

Boom Boom Pow was released last August as part of the 2010 Holiday Collection with Today Was a Fairy Tale . It doesn't layer to be solid, as you can see in the swatches below, but I really like that. I think it looks best on its own, but it also looks lovely layered over a base color. I plan to use it in an upcoming NOTD layered over another base color... and I use it on the bling finger in this NOTD over Purple With a Purpose by OPI. So check those swatches out too :)

What have you been sporting on your nails this past week?

Hope everyone had a great weekend :))

TIP: When you're impatient or just don't have the time to sit around letting your nails dry... after about 5 minutes of air drying, dunk your fingers in a bowl of ice water for a minute or so to set and harden your nail polish. You will still have to be careful but not nearly as careful as just air drying alone. :) Hope this tip helps?!?

Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: Shocking Pink by China Glaze

I am in the middle of a big move right now and I have sooooo much to do before we go and after we get there... so I might be slightly absent in the next couple of weeks?!

This weeks favorite has definitely been Shocking Pink from the China Glaze Neon Collection '2008, which is exactly as it says shocking pink. I LOVE this polish because it is such a bright, neon bubblegum pink color. It demands attention:) A very fun summery color that is perfect for August. I looooveeee bright pinks and reds - the brighter, the better!! :)

Four coats of Shocking Pink (with a basecoat and topcoat)

Four coats of Shocking Pink (with a basecoat and topcoat)

The formula is similar to the Celtic Sun Neon by China Glaze that I review HERE. It takes about three to four coats to be opaque and dries matte. I don't really like the matte look, so I go over it after with a nice glossy topcoat. It seems to chip fast, but I have also been messing around with boxes so who knows? :/

What are your favorite polishes for the week??

Oh and I was thinking... Maybe I should do a monthly favorites blogpost? with/instead of my favorite polish of the week? What do you guys think?

Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: Candy Shop by Deborah Lippmann with swatches!!

This weeks favorite polish is from a Deborah Lipmann set that I recently got my hands on :) I will post a full review with swatches soon and link it HERE. This is the cutest nail polish EVER!! haha For real though. It is really cute. The name 'Candy Shop' totally suits it because it honestly reminds me of gumballs.

The formula is very nice... should be for the price ;) In all honesty though, I do think it is worth paying a little extra for something special sometimes, especially considering the slow rate that I go through nail polish. And I really love Deborah Lippmann polishes, some of them are pretty unique and the bottles are really nice. They also make perfect, affordable presents for friends birthdays - especially with names like 'Happy Birthday'.

3 coats of 'Candy Shop'

What do you think of this new lippmann sparkle? What is your favorite polish this week??

Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: 'Passion in the Pacific' by China Glaze with 'Blue Iguana' by China Glaze, with swatches!!!

My favorite nail polish this week is 'Passion in the Pacific' from China Glaze's Fiji Fling '2009 Collection. It's a bright, shimmery turquoise color that is the perfect summer statement color! It has a very nice, streak-free formula that goes on shear, but builds to full coverage. Opaque with three coats.

I like to put 'Blue Iguana' from this summers '2011 Island Escape Collection by China Glaze, on the ring finger or the pinkie finger, just to add some extra color. Even better, pair with other bright accessories, like pink lips or a bright colored sundress to make your nail color pop :D The swatches are below.

I am posting this blog entry a couple of days early this week because I will have a nail tutorial (first EVER! Yay!), featured on Fleur De Force's blog this Sunday, as a part of her *Guest Blog* takeover week (eek... Thanks Fleur!!).

All China glaze nail polishes are cruelty free and 3-free (without DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde).

Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: 'Rally Pretty Pink' by OPI with swatches!!!

This weeks favorite nail polish is once again by OPI... I couldn't help myself?! I LOVE this color! It is a pinkish, purple, gold polish that is soooo pretty in the sun and looks amazing with a tan. The formula goes on perfectly, a little too shear with only one coat but perfect with two!

OPI's 'Rally Pretty Pink' is from the Serena Williams Glam Slam! France Collection, which was released on May 1st, packaged with a complimentary Red Shatter. I managed to get 'Rally Pretty Pink' outside of the package, without the Red Shatter.

Dupe: If you already have 'Faye' by Zoya then you already have 'Rally Pretty Pink', as they're exactly the same in the bottle and on the nails.

Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: 'Ali's Big Break' by OPI with swatches!!!

This weeks featured favorite is: OPI's 'Ali's Big Break'

As July 1st was Canada Day, I figured that the nail polish of the week had to be red in order to properly celebrate Canada's awesomeness. This is one of my favorite reds from my collection. It is a gorgeous candy apple red that has a jelly base and slight sparkle. This nail polish needs three coats to be opaque, due to the jelly base, but I find it can be made into a darker red color with more of a sparkly dimension, with each consecutive coat added after the third. It is almost like having two different nail polish colors in one, who wouldn't want that?!

'Ali's Big Break' is from OPI's Holiday '2010 Burlesque Collection. Although this polish was made for the Christmas season, I find the bright red, candy apple, jelly base to also be perfect for the summer months as well. I love a good red in the summer. I find red nails look really classy with a black bikini during summer beach days, and a little black dress in summer evenings.

All OPI nail polishes are cruelty free and manufactured 3-free (without DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde).

Outdoor light: 'Ali's Big Break' by OPI (from the mini set of four polishes).

Indoor light: 'Ali's Big Break' by OPI (from the mini set of four polishes). I don't find it to be as orange as it appears in this picture, more like a deeper shade of the outdoor light picture above (like a darker candy apple red).

Which nail polish was your Canada Day red?

Favorite Nail Polish of the Week: Layla by Zoya with swatches!!!

This weeks featured favorite is: Zoya's 'Layla'

It is a bright coralish, pink color that is perfect for the first full week summer! Almost like rubbing a highlighter on your nails :) I LOVE this polish. Zoya nail polish is usually about nine dollars at selected Salons. I like this nail polish without a topcoat because it dries with an almost matte finish, but a glossy topcoat will really make the color pop.

Zoya was awarded for making the longest wearing natural nail polish in Women's Health Magazine. Zoya nail polish is cruelty free and 5-free (without Toluene, Formaldehyde, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor). All good things :)

Zoya 'Layla' with a Steadtler gel highlighter.

Nails were opaque after two coats, which I like :) The photos really don't do the brightness justice.

What are your favorite Zoya nail polish colors? What are your favorite summer nail polish colors?

Christina :)
